I am a 500 hours trained vajrasati yoga teacher based in Brighton UK.
I’ve been practising yoga for the last 25 years and it has got me through the ups and downs of parenting, working and living. I love how it immerses me in my breath and earths me in my body.
Each class has a mixture of asanas (postures), mudras (hand positions to help with focus), mantras (sounds and sanskrit words to help release), pranayama (breathing practices), dyana (meditation) and guided savasana (relaxation).
Vajrasati yoga encourages exploration, creativity and trusting body and breath through continued learning.
All my classes are fully inclusive and everyone is welcomed regardless of ability, age, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion and neurodiversity. I teach yoga with respect to its roots within the South Asian tradition. I acknowledge that as a western woman I am gratefully borrowing teachings from a culture outside of my own. Mindful of this I pledge to remain respectful by acknowledging this and engaging in continuous study and appreciation. I live and practice by the 5 yamas which are a moral compass to orientate oneself and ones yoga practice by; that of honesty (satya), loving kindness and acceptance of self (ahimsa), find balance between moderation and challenge (bramacharia), non-grasping to find harmony (aparigrha) and non stealing from what is not freely given by body, mind, breath and heart (asteya).
I currently run open classes including a virtual class via zoom each Tuesday and an in-person class each Monday at the Hanover Community Centre in Brighton. I also teach two closed classes each week funded by Brighton and Hove City Council for elders in seniors housing schemes, and I can offer 1:1 live or remote classes on request.
In my classes replenish your systems, encourage resilience and grounding. Find balance, breath and presence.
“Wild rooted yoga is my all time favourite class. While I’ve loved many of my yoga teachers & classes, this is the one I’ve stuck to longest. I don’t see this as purely exercise or stretching, as its far deeper & more nuanced than just that; this is a soul practice. Tess has changed my relationship with my body. She has taught me valuable self-love that was missing in my life & in other classes. This is a gift for your body & soul to remind us of what is actually magical, joyful & resonant. This is incrementally life-changing & healing work. Recommended to all; this is what kindness feels like.” Gemma 2026
“This class is amazing and has saved my life and my body. My joints are stronger, my body is stronger, and my whole mind, body and soul feel so nourished and looked after in your yoga sessions. Thank you for making it accessible for someone with so many physical difficulties and lifelong experience of back pain, and now joint pain everywhere. I cannot recommend what you do enough – it is transformational.” Katie 2026
